One of the original run of early MX-5s imported by Mazda NZ in 1989. Like all of the original NZ New MX-5's, this car lacks power steering, air conditioning and power windows. The lack of power steering improves road feel in my opinion.

To this day, these cars remain amazing fun to drive down a twisty road with the top down, enjoying the throaty MX-5 exhaust note.

The car is very tidy for a 35 year old car. There are some paint chips which would be expected of a car this age. The hood is original, the window plastic is in very good condition and the car is weather tight. It even has the original registration plates from new.

I purchased the car off an elderly gentlemen 7 years ago, with the view to keep it as a collectable. Since purchase it has done less than 500km so I think it is time someone else got to enjoy it.

The car has been well maintained and kept original. During my time I have had the following work done:

a new cam belt, tensioner and water pump replaced by Blackwells Mazda
a new Denso fuel pump installed by Garage5 (MX-5 specialists)
new seat belts installed
Tidy examples of the original NA MX-5 are becoming rarer so hopefully this car finds a new home with someone who appreciates these great cars.
